Well, I decided I just didn't want to sit on this any longer. It's kinda hard to talk about a brewery with any sense of earnestness if the damn thing doesn't have a name.
Ladies and gentlemen, I present:
Panic Alarmist Brewing
I've configured the old site, gullsterbrewing.com, to redirect to this new one, which is where you are now. Same content, new domain to reflect the real name.
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I'm not interested in spending a lot of time thinking about names and marketing crap. All of that is important, but in the end, the beers will define my brand, not the other way around.
If you disagree with that, well, you're wrong (update 1/30/14 - boy, that was arrogant, and profoundly incorrect!) Craft beer is unlike any other industry on the planet. Sure, there are brands of craft beer out there which are nothing more than marketing juggernauts where the actual beer is secondary, but fortunately those are the exceptions. I don't think those types of places will have the kind of longevity or authenticity that most craft beer drinkers want.
So, why Panic (psssst, we're now named Alarmist)? Well, it just came to me. No big background story. I wanted something kinda playful, like my original "Gullster Brewing" idea, but unlike that one, Panic is something we can all relate to. A few months ago I had a really fun dinner discussion with my wife and some friends about the name. What came out of that was lots of excitement and many laughs. There are lots of things one can do to play off of the name. I realize there's a huge danger of making it gimmicky, but please trust me when I tell you that is not the intent.
Finally, I can assure you, as this project progresses, Panic will be an apt description of me.
